We hope you will join us for a full day of visits and activities centered around the life and works of Winslow Homer. Our day will begin at the Portland Museum of Art, where we’ll view the museum’s extensive Winslow Homer collection. After lunch at The Westin Portland Harborview, we’ll travel to the Bowdoin College Museum of Art, where we’ll tour the exhibition Winslow Homer and the Camera: Photography and the Art of Painting. In connection with the exhibition, our own Makeda Best, the Richard L. Menschel Curator of Photography at the Harvard Art Museums, will deliver the lecture “We Endured: The Civil War and the Visual Culture of Eyewitness,” which will focus on artists’ engagement with the Civil War.
$175 (members $135). Space is limited, and advance registration is required. Members can register here.

Please arrive early, and gather near the Quincy Street entrance at 8:45am, to ensure a prompt departure at 9am.

Bus will return to the Harvard Art Museums, 32 Quincy Street, Cambridge.

Fee includes bus transportation, exclusive tours, admission, lunch, and all gratuities.
