Art Study Center Seminar: Intersections between Media—European Medals, Prints, and Paintings from the 16th to 19th Century
Seminar
Harvard Art Museums32 Quincy Street, Cambridge, MA
In this seminar, Jessie Park, the Rousseau Curatorial Fellow in European Art, and Kirsten Burke, a Ph.D. student in the Department of History of Art and Architecture at Harvard, will explore new ways of seeing medals as they intersect with other artistic media.
A rare opportunity to engage with these small works up close, this seminar will illuminate the importance of medals as artistic masterpieces, technological innovations, and identity-makers, from which various social and political implications were generated in surprising and compelling ways.
The seminar will take place in the Art Study Center, Level 4.
Free admission, but registration is required. Registration for this seminar will open on Friday, March 15, 2019, and participants will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis. To register, please email am_register@harvard.edu.
