A black and white print portrays a road in the country, lined with tall trees, which bisects a large field. In the middle of the scene, the road curves. There are overturned, broken carts throughout the scene, with barrels, notebooks, and other cargo spilling out of them. There are also the bodies of dead men and horses in the distance. In the center, is a large, bright white cart that lurches to the right because its wheel has broken off. Around it are the corpses of five, male soldiers and five dead horses. They lie in different positions: on their backs, on their sides and on their stomachs. Ammunition and rifles lie on the ground between them.
