Descriptions

Description
Painted plain weave cotton duck canvas fragment with knife cut edges and no apparent ground layer. The fragment has dark red paint applied on raw plain weave cotton duck. There appears to be matte paint strokes over a glossy dark red layer, which has been applied diagonally with respect to the canvas weave. An area of raw canvas is visible. There is a mass of canvas fibers stuck to the glossy surface.
