Descriptions

Description
Sketchbook with beige-cloth-covered cardboard covers; pencil sleeve; and remains of cloth ties. Pages of off-white wove paper. Sewn page block. Sketchbook is incomplete, with nine pages remaining. Ten drawings. The pages are numbered in red-brown ink in the upper right hand corner with the exception of pages seven, eight, and nine, which are numbered in graphite in the upper right hand corner. These pages, as well as the pages numbered three and four, are slightly larger than the rest of the book and may be slightly different paper; they are loose and may have originated in another sketchbook.

Contents: A study of a lectern in Burgos, Spain, (cf. Fogg drawing 1937.8.170); studies for the mural of the pagan deities and the vaulting over the Trinity lunette, Boston Public Library; a sketch that appears to be for the Sermon on the Mount panel that was designed for the Boston Public Library but never installed; studies for "Classic and Romantic Art," an oval panel at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; a figure sketch that appears to be for an archer at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; and an unidentified architectural decoration.
