A watercolor of a tall, deep red hollyhock stem growing in front of a dark green outdoor background.

A tall blooming hollyhock stalk is painted near the center leaning slightly left revealing five robust blooms, some fading blooms towards the bottom, and several buds towards the top of the stalk. As the burgundy-maroon blooms travel up the stalk, they are depicted at various angles to reveal the shape of the flower. The most prominent bloom near the center top faces us, showing its stamens in the center. The stalk stops a few inches from the top. Its green leaves stand out from the darker green leafy background. The watercolor is rendered with lifelike detail.
