The drawing in graphite on white paper depicts four figures in an interior. There is a suggestion of a column on the far left and mosaic motifs on the floor. The leftmost figure is rendered in sparse contoured detail, standing in profile facing right. They wear a long robe and hold a scroll out before them, their gaze directed to it. To the right of this figure is a highly decorated freestanding torch, rendered in much greater detail than the rest of the drawing. To the right of the torch is a woman, nude above the waist, reclining against a seated man. The seated man facing left is nude save for the suggestion of a cape. His left hand holds the arm of the reclining woman, and his right hand outstretched. Behind the reclining woman and seated man is a seated woman in gauzy robes and an ornamental headpiece, her arm over the back of her chair, looking at the reclining woman.
