Descriptions

Description
Reproduction of gold disc with a representation of an octopus. The tentacles are shown in elaborate spirals and the head features two distinct eyes. The original was found in Grave Circle A at Mycenae.
Commentary
The actual function of the discs is unclear. They were found under, above, and around the bodies in the burial. Schliemann believed these discs represented miniature copies of shields.
