Descriptions

Description
Narrow inwoven tapestry band with pendant. Plain/tabby woven undyed linen fabric survives above and below the band. The decorative portion consists of a pattern of orange leaves and dots outlined with purple. The dots form diamond shapes around the larger leaves. The warps run perpendicular to the length of the band. The wefts of the tapestry woven section are orange and purple wool and undyed linen. This was likely once the shoulder band (clavus) from the front or back of a linen tunic.
Commentary
Similar to Met 90.5.32 and 90.5.486. Very close to Met 90.5.485.
