P1979.152: Scene at Indian Payment, Odanah, Wisconsin (734)
PhotographsAt center, three women and a small baby sit in a canoe. The women hold oars to row the canoe which is pointed toward us, with the forward end touching the shore at lower right. The woman closest to us, in front, wears a checked dress, has straight dark hair, parted in the middle and pulled back. Behind her, the baby is wrapped in blankets and secured to a board propped up in the middle of the boat. The two women behind also have straight dark hair and are wrapped in blankets as they row. The surface of the water is calm and reflective. This photograph is printed twice, side by side on yellow backing paper.
