A young woman in flowing robes holds a seated nude baby in her folded hands.

The woman (Virgin Mary) faces forward, her face is pensive, head leaning left toward the chubby baby (Jesus) who looks up at her, holding a small sphere in his lap. The Virgin’s hair is long and curly, her left knee is slightly bent as her left foot rests upon the center of a thin crescent. Her feet are obscured by flowing fabric of her robes. There is no background detail except for multiple lines of varying length emanating all around the figures.
