M14296: The Engraver Joseph Tourny
PrintsAt center a man sits with his elbows resting on a tall slanted desk, turning his head to look at us. He wears a beret on his head and an overcoat over a high collared shirt. We see his face in three quarter profile in light coming in from the left. Dark, finely crosshatched lines indicate his dark eyes, mustache and the side of his face in shadow. A tasseled curtain hangs on the wall in the background at left. In the lower margin at two small sketches of the head in profile of a man wearing a monk’s cap.
