  • inscription: The monogram of the artist is followed by a date that appears to be 1753, but this is manifestly impossible given the association of the subject with Runciman's painting cycle.

Descriptions

Commentary
This impression is on old wove paper, which is not like the laid china paper used for the publication of the print in the 1820s. Presumably this is a late 18th c. impression.
