Descriptions
- Description
- Standing in profile facing right is the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb (r. 1658-1707). He bears a dark mustache and a thick, full, dark beard. He wears a turban decorated with a large strand of jewels, a necklace with a large pendant, an armlet, a bracelet, rings, a long robe (jama), and a waist sash (patka). His right hand rests on top of a long staff. Surrounding his head is a large halo with a gold border. In the corners of the portrait are flowers within gold shapes. The two at the bottom are damaged. The portrait is surrounded by a blue border with gold flowers. The portrait and the border is pasted on a blue and white marbled sheet of paper.
