Descriptions

Description
The painting features a young prince kneeling on the ground about to touch Krishna’s feet, a traditional South Asian gesture of homage and respect. Krishna is the eighth avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu who is worshipped as a deity in his own right. Behind the blue-skinned god is his elder brother, Balarama. On the left is the prince’s vehicle, a large white elephant. The majority of the page is filled with cows and herders.
