Descriptions Description This is an illuminated copy of the first volume of Bukhari's Sahih, one of the six canonical hadith collections of sunni Islam. The manuscript consists of 251 unpaginated folios. The ownership seal on the first folio has been scraped off. There is an illuminated roundel with four pendants on its axes at the beginning of the manuscript. However the name has been scraped off from its inscription. The text folios begin with a beautiful illuminated double page. The text is copied in muhaqqaq and rayhani scripts in 17 lines per page with black ink with section headings in gold. The colophon at the end of the text gives the date as 12 Dhul-hijja 857 (14 December 1453) and the name of the scribe which has been scraped off. There are some marginal notes and corrections on the text. The manuscript has a stamped leather binding with flap, but it has been rebound with European-style spine.
