1933.4.2357: Actor Nakamura Tomisaburō I in a Sukeroku Play
PrintsHer flowing kimono accentuates her pose and opens slightly at the floor to reveal one sandaled foot. Her hands are not visible, but she’s holding a patterned garment that hangs down. The long kimono sleeves are a brown swirl pattern on off-white. Her black hair is secured into buns with several stick hair ornaments; her small lips are painted pink. A tree branch of pink flowers blooms above, similar to cherry blossoms, framing her head. The background is warm, muted tones, with simple line drawing of undefined space and a vertical folding shade on the left.
