48 Dagger-Axe with Stepped Tang
Bluish gray-green jade with whitish markings and a few calcified spots, showing faint reddish brown stains. A rather thin blade, whose crest and slightly raised later bevels run through to the butt. Between the shoulders of the blade is a hole drilled from the right side. The lower corner of the tang recedes in two steps, a larger one at the median crest and a short one (corresponding to the minute recess of the shoulders) below. Late Shang(?).
