239 Plain Handle
Flattish, rectangular piece of black jade with dark brown areas. Similar to No. 115 in its general shape, this handle shows a much simplified treatment of all its parts. The concave portion is set off from top and trunk merely by grooves. The bottom part is beveled asymmetrically. The bar-like top of the handle is perforated by two converging drill holes, which indicate that the piece was worn as a pendant. The smooth, glossy surface and soft edges are the result of much handling. Western Chou(?).
