623 Large Seal
Mottled green and grayish brown jade block, square with rounded corners, topped by a truncate pyramid. The pyramidal part is perforated from two opposite sides at slanting angles; the edges of the holes are reamed irregularly and worn smooth. Incised in rounded grooves are two characters, tzu uw, in Large Seal script, the first character being marked with the duplication mark: “sons war-like,” or possibly a name, “Master Tzu-wu.” date undetermined; Han or later.
