On the side of the coin on the left is the bust of a man facing right, bearded with curly hair worn back away from face, loose clothing draped around shoulders; surrounding the border, the Latin characters: A N T O N I N V S / A V G / P I V S / P P / T R / P / C O S / I I I. The other side of the coin depicts a man seated on a throne facing left, naked from the waist up, wearing loose clothing from the waist down, holding a thunderbolt in his right hand, left arm slightly raised holding a long staff; surrounding the border, the Latin characters: I M P E R A / T O R / I I.
