  • Signed: VG [monogram cut in block]
  • inscription: block, lower center, incision, signed, in artist's hand: artist's monogram: VG, formed by a dagger, the line incised by its point and a spiral
  • inscription: printed from the block, lower left, incised, in artist's hand: FRIBVRG
  • inscription: lower left of mounting sheet, graphite, handwritten: 37. There is also a fragmentary inscription,apparently in the same hand, at the right indicating the attribution.

C. & J. Goodfriend, New York, NY, sale to James A. Bergquist, 1998. James Goodfriend owned an old album page on which four prints from the series were mounted. He cut the page, sold one print, and then sold the other three to James A. Bergquist.
James A. Bergquist, Boston, MA, purchase from C. &. J. Goodfriend, 1998, sale to Harvard University Art Museums, 1999. (James Goodfriend). James Bergquist purchased three prints by Graf from the series: Friburg, Bern, Unterwalden, and gave HUAM 1st choice.
