Description
Small circular box and cover with straight sides, the cover lightly domed; light gray stoneware with dark caramel-brown glaze on the exterior and transparent colorless glaze on the interior; base unglazed. From the Huangpu kilns, Tongchuan, Yaozhou county, Shaanxi province.
Commentary
Compare to:
Dark glazed boxes of similar form attributed to the Tang dynasty excavated from the Huangpu kilns, Tongchuan, Yaozhou county, Shaanxi province. See Tangdai Huangbao yao zhi [The Tang Dynasty Huangpu Kiln Site] (Beijing: Wenwu chubanshe, 1992), vol. 2, pl. 45.2.
