A rectangle drawn in graphite filled with a tangle of looping marks

On plain white paper, a horizontal rectangle is hand drawn in graphite, echoing the sides of the page and leaving a roughly equal margin all around. Skeins of hastily scrawled lines, also in graphite, fill the inside of the rectangle and cross over it into the margin on all sides. Energetic scratched marks and loops that mainly bend upward and to the right, all vary slightly, some thinner and lighter, and some thicker and darker.
