A black-and-white photograph portrays a young Black boy gazing out of the open window of a log cabin.

A black-and-white photograph shows the upper half of a young Black boy with short braids, off center to the right, standing in the open window of a log cabin with his hands resting on the windowsill. He wears a long-sleeve top with open collar, and gazes out to the left with furrowed brow. A tattered newspaper page is stuck to the inside of the open window shutter. Dirt and grass fill in the gaps between the logs of the cabin.
