An American general testifies before Congress that the 1946 "Operation Crossroads" nuclear tests in the Pacific did not expose soldiers to dangerous amounts of radiation. However, many of the soldiers involved in these tests have gone on to develop cancers, so it is becoming increasingly difficult to maintains that the tests were safe.
