Laura Panadero is responsible for the examination, treatment, and preventive care of works of art on paper and photographic materials in the museums’ collections. Her research focuses on Alexander Gardner’s Photographic Sketch Book of the War (1866), and the material interactions between the photographic and lithographic elements of the album. With specialized training in the conservation of photographic materials, Panadero has worked on a wide range of photographic processes spanning the history of the medium. Her past research includes work on Irving Penn’s darkroom techniques and Frédéric Flachéron’s early paper negatives. She currently serves as a regional liaison to the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works’ Emerging Conservation Professionals Network.
