Peter Atkinson is in charge of all daily operations, engineering, construction, landscape, events support, and custodial staff for the Harvard Art Museums, which totals 450,000 square feet of space. He was instrumental in the development and execution of a Facilities Master Plan, highlighted by the renovation and expansion of 32 Quincy Street with Renzo Piano Building Workshop and the lease and construction of an off-site art storage facility in Somerville. Atkinson has managed capital construction projects for Harvard University Dining Services and the Kennedy School of Government. He is a member of the Richardson Center Corporation Architectural Board for New York State and the Board of Freshman Advisors at Harvard College and serves on the board of the Senior Common Room of Adams House and Winthrop House at Harvard College. He was the recipient of the Harvard Heroes Award in 1998. In addition to his academic degrees, Atkinson also completed the mid-career executive program in hospitality design at the Cornell Hotel School.
