Although the building on Quincy Street that housed the Fogg and Busch-Reisinger museums is closed for a major renovation, two Harvard Art Museums venues are available for rental: Adolphus Busch Hall and Garden and the Arthur M. Sackler Museum.
Adolphus Busch Hall and Garden, 29 Kirkland Street, Cambridge
Built in the spirit of a grand medieval hall, with its dramatic architectural features, adorning statuary, stunning collection of Germanic plaster casts, and world-renowned organ, Adolphus Busch Hall provides an enchanting atmosphere. In the warmer months guests may enjoy the adjoining terrace and garden.
Adolphus Busch Hall has the capacity for 80 people (standing or seated). Rental cost is $4,200 for the general public. $3,200 for Harvard staff, students, and faculty, and $2,900 for Harvard departments and affiliated medical institutions. Rental cost for general public includes membership in the Harvard Art Museums at the Patron or Corporate level.
Arthur M. Sackler Museum, 485 Broadway, Cambridge
Designed by renowned British architect James Stirling, the Arthur M. Sackler Museum features some of the most treasured works from the Fogg’s collection of Western art from the Middle Ages to contemporary times, the Busch-Reisinger’s collection of art from Central and Northern Europe, and the Sackler’s collection of ancient, Asian, Islamic, and later Indian art.
The Sackler lobby is available for a standing reception for 80. The Sackler lecture hall seats 280. Rental cost: Lobby: $2,000; Lecture Hall: $1,000; Lobby/Lecture Hall: $2,500; Lobby/Galleries: $3,500. Rental cost for general public exceeding $1,000 includes membership in the Harvard Art Museums at the Patron or Corporate level. Rental cost for Harvard departments and affiliates: Lobby: $1,500, Lecture Hall: $600; Lobby/Lecture Hall; $2,000; Lobby/Galleries: $2,900.
Terms and Conditions
Locations and times for rentals are as follows:
Sackler galleries and lobby: Tuesday–Saturday, 5pm until midnight
Sackler lecture hall: Monday–Friday, 5pm until midnight; Saturday, 9am until midnight
Adolphus Busch Hall: Monday–Friday, 5pm until midnight; Saturday–Sunday, 9am until midnight
Rental cost includes use of designated museum space, regular security, and standard custodial services for up to seven hours or until 12 midnight, whichever occurs first. Only weekend events in Sackler lecture hall and Adolphus Busch Hall may exceed the seven-hour maximum and will be billed an additional $200 per hour or any part thereof.
A License contract must be completed, signed, and returned along with a nonrefundable deposit of $1,000 to reserve museum space.
