Vitreous Materials
Glass, faience (glazed nonclay ceramic), frit (polycrystalline material with a glassy matrix), and glazed terracotta were all found at Nuzi as the materials of beads, vessels, figurines, and wall decoration. The glazes on the objects are a translucent greenish blue, while the glasses and frits occur in a wide range of colors including blue, red, yellow, black, and, in the case of glass, clear greenish. Most of the glass artifacts were discovered in the destruction layer, dated to the mid-14th century BC.
