Wall Painting Fragments

Stratum II, palace passageway L15B

Painted mud-plaster

1928.182.2–3.1–.4, .16, .132

Sizes range from c. 9.5 cm to crumb-size. These photographs depict only a small selection of the assembled fragments.

Preservation extremely poor. Original black, red, and white colors are still visible, some quite vibrant. Almost certainly fragments from the wall paintings reproduced in Starr 1937 as plates 128G, 128H, and/or 129D. The fragmentary nature of these objects makes it nearly impossible to identify their position or orientation in the original design. Only the pattern of 1928.182.2–3.1 is clear enough to confidently identify the fragment as the same one published by Starr 1937 (pl. 128E).
