Rescheduled from August 25, 2012
Mika Natif, Assistant Curator for Islamic and Later Indian Art, Division of Asian and Mediterranean Art, Harvard Art Museums
This gallery talk will examine the small 17th-century Persian painting Courtier Refusing Wine from Indian Courtesans, which brings up fascinating issues regarding East–West relations through its subject matter, technique, and style. Blending local and foreign elements, the work reflects the cosmopolitan nature of Safavid Iran.

Gallery talks are informal and include discussion. Limited to 25 participants; please arrive early.
