Susan Dackerman Receives 2012 IFPDA Book Award

We’d like to congratulate curator Susan Dackerman on receiving the 2012 Book Award from the International Fine Prints Dealers Association (IFPDA) for her publication, Prints and the Pursuit of Knowledge in Early Modern Europe. Presented at the IFPDA Print Fair on November 2, the award recognizes excellence in research, scholarship, and the discussion of new ideas in the field of prints.

Published in conjunction with an exhibition of the same name, Prints and the Pursuit of Knowledge in Early Modern Europe examines how celebrated artists of the Northern Renaissance contributed to the scientific investigations of the 16th century. The book offers brilliant reproductions of woodcuts, etchings, maps, globes, anatomical prints, and paper scientific instruments, in addition to essays by Susan Dackerman, Lorraine Daston, Katharine Park, Suzanne Karr Schmidt, and Claudia Swan.
