Mark your calendars: Saturday, September 29, 2012 is Smithsonian magazine’s eighth annual Museum Day Live! This year over 1,400 museums nationwide will open their doors free of charge in the spirit of the Smithsonian Museums.
Harvard University is offering a special five-for-one deal that day. Museum Day ticket holders will receive free entry to the Harvard Art Museums, the Harvard Museum of Natural History, the Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology, the Semitic Museum, and the Collection of Historical Scientific Instruments. In other words, you can see Jörg Immendorff’s Untitled, the Blaschka Glass Flower Collection, a wish-fulfilling Zulu headrest, a painted tomb from Giza, and an ophthalmotrope for free. Now that’s a day well spent.
Register for Museum Day Live! tickets at smithsonianmag.com/museumday/ticket. Select one Harvard museum from the ticket options and get into all five. But don’t forget to print your ticket—the paper ticket must be presented at each venue for the special offer to be valid.
Additionally, we are offering 10% off new memberships purchased at the Harvard Art Museums on Museum Day! Memberships can be purchased at the admissions desk or by calling 617-495-4544 or emailing am_membership [at] harvard [dot] edu.
