We can hardly wait for the opening of In Harmony: The Norma Jean Calderwood Collection of Islamic Art. This special exhibition features important objects from the Persian cultural sphere, including ceramics, illustrated manuscripts, and lacquerware—all collected by the late Norma Jean Calderwood and given to the Harvard Art Museums by her husband, the late Stan Calderwood, in 2002.
We went behind the scenes to capture the exhibition as it came together. See the exhibition develop from wood framework to colorful display in this time-lapse video.
In Harmony is on view at the Sackler Museum January 31–June 1, 2013. Don’t miss the opening celebration tomorrow (January 30), which features a presentation on ceramic production in eastern Iran between the 9th and 11th centuries by Oya Pancaroğlu of Boğaziçi University in Istanbul.
