Last week, we revealed that StoryCorps will be coming to Harvard in conjunction with our special exhibition Corita Kent and the Language of Pop. We’re now proud to announce that 90.9 WBUR, Boston’s NPR news station, will be our media partner for this oral history project, scheduled to take place September 4, 5, and 6 on Harvard’s Cambridge campus. To learn how to participate, click here.

WBUR has been a friend of the museums in the past, most recently serving as a media partner in the buildup to our reopening last November, after a six-year renovation and expansion. This time, the station will help promote the StoryCorps interview slots available to the public, and once the interviews have been conducted, will host edited highlights on the WBUR website.

A collaboration between StoryCorps, the Harvard Art Museums, and National Grid, the oral history project is hoping to connect with those who had local knowledge of Kent (a Boston resident from 1968 until her death in 1986) or who have been inspired by her work, including the rainbow-hued design for the gas tank near I-93 south of downtown Boston. WBUR’s reach as a trusted news source in the region will help ensure the success of these efforts.

Corita Kent and the Language of Pop is supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts and major corporate support from National Grid. Harvard Common Spaces has also provided support for the StoryCorps project. WBUR is the media partner for the StoryCorps project.
